Rotaxaner
Komplexa föreningar i vilka en hantelformad molekyl omges av en makrocykel. De är uppkallade efter rota (hjul) och axel (axel). Notation med ett prefix används för att indikera antalet sammankopplade komponenter. De har potentiell användning inom NANOTEKNIK. Rotaxaner har tillverkats med CYKLODEXTRIN och CYKLISKA ETRAR.
