Slemhinneimmunitet
Oemottaglighet för patogena effekter av främmande mikroorganismer eller antigena ämnen tack vare utsöndring av antikroppar från slemhinnorna. Slemhinneepitelet i mag-tarmkanalen, luftvägarna och fortplantningsorganen bildar en form av IgA (sekretoriskt immunglobulin A) som skyddar dessa inkörsportar till kroppen.

Mucosal epithelia in the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and reproductive tracts produce a form of IgA (IMMUNOGLOBULIN A, SECRETORY) that serves to protect these ports of entry into the body.
